Haryana Health Authorities Plan Digital Queue Management System at Civil Hospital
In a major step towards improving patient experience and reducing overcrowding, Civil Hospital Sector 10A is set to introduce a centralised token system for its Out-Patient Department (OPD), officials from the District Health Department said on Thursday.
The initiative aims to streamline patient flow, minimise long queues, and improve coordination between multiple OPDs within the hospital.
26 LED Touch Panels and Real-Time Queue Tracking Planned
As part of the proposed upgrade, authorities have invited tenders for the installation of a digital token management system along with 26 LED touch-display panels across the hospital premises.
According to tender documents available on the Haryana government portal, bids for the project will be accepted until May 27, after which technical evaluations will begin.
The tender, issued by the Public Works Department Haryana, includes installation of:
- Live token display units outside 20 OPDs
- Keypad caller systems
- Digital signage media players
- Centralised token-management software
The system will display OPD queue status and public announcements in real-time, helping patients navigate the hospital more efficiently.
New System to Reduce Delays and Improve Patient Navigation
A senior PWD official, speaking anonymously, stated that the hospital’s existing token system would be modernised using large touch-screen panels.
The upgraded system will also maintain offline patient records and reporting history, allowing easier navigation and reducing unnecessary waiting time outside consultation rooms.
Officials said the project is expected to be implemented within the next seven months.
Better Coordination Across OPDs Expected
Hospital authorities believe the digital queue management system will significantly improve coordination between OPDs and patient-care booths.
Currently, many patients reportedly face delays due to repeated referrals between departments for various examinations and medical procedures.
The new setup is expected to simplify movement inside the hospital and improve access to timely treatment.
Seating Expansion and Encroachment Removal to Ease Congestion
Dr Neena Singh, Senior Medical Officer and In-charge of the hospital, said additional seating arrangements have already been made outside OPDs to reduce overcrowding.
She added that spacing between examination booths has also been increased to facilitate smoother patient movement.
Dr Singh further informed that encroachments outside the hospital premises were recently removed to ensure safer and faster access for patients.
Additional Pharmacy and Dairy Kiosks Coming Soon
Hospital authorities also announced that two new kiosks offering pharmacy services and dairy products are expected to become operational in the coming weeks.
The move is aimed at improving convenience for patients and attendants visiting the hospital regularly.
