First Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences Institute to Earn Global Quality Certification
Bengaluru: In a major boost to AYUSH-based healthcare, the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), Bengaluru, has achieved ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for its clinical laboratory in Biochemistry and Haematology. With this recognition, CARI has become the first institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) to secure this prestigious international certification.
Accreditation to Ensure Global Standards in Diagnostics
According to the Ministry of Ayush, the ISO accreditation guarantees that the laboratory delivers accurate, reliable, and safe diagnostic results aligned with globally accepted quality standards.
This milestone marks a significant transformation for the laboratory, which has progressed from an entry-level NABL-certified facility to a fully accredited centre of excellence, enhancing the credibility of Ayurveda-based diagnostics.
Government Highlights Importance of Precision Healthcare
Minister of State (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized that international accreditation plays a crucial role in ensuring precision in diagnostics, directly impacting treatment outcomes and patient care. He noted that the achievement reflects the government’s continuous efforts to upgrade AYUSH institutions to global benchmarks.
Strengthening Evidence-Based AYUSH Practices
Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Rajesh Kotecha, described the development as a key step towards integrating high-quality diagnostic services with traditional medicine systems. He highlighted that it reinforces the focus on research, evidence-based practices, and patient-centric healthcare delivery.
Institutional Excellence and Leadership Contributions
Director General of CCRAS, Rabinarayan Acharya, stated that the institute’s earlier NABH and NABL certifications, along with its role as an Ayurveda Science Incubation Centre, have significantly elevated its standards.
CARI Head Sulochana Bhat termed the achievement a proud moment and credited the dedicated efforts of the team, including Vidyashree Anchan and laboratory staff.
Impressive Patient Reach and Diagnostic Capacity
During 2025–26, the laboratory conducted over 1.52 lakh investigations, benefiting more than 9,300 patients. The institute has also strengthened its services by offering faster and more accessible digital reporting, reflecting its growing capacity and commitment to quality healthcare.
