In a disturbing incident from Bengaluru, the head of a private multi-specialty hospital has been booked by police for allegedly sexually harassing a 29-year-old female employee. The case has raised serious concerns about workplace safety and conduct within healthcare institutions.
Employee Alleges Repeated Inappropriate Behaviour
According to a senior police officer, the complainant had been working as an accountant at the hospital since July 2025. In her complaint, she alleged that the doctor repeatedly made inappropriate remarks about her appearance during office hours.
She further claimed that he would stare at her while she was in uniform and make comments about her attire despite her objections.
Harassment Continued Despite Warnings
The woman stated that she had repeatedly warned the accused to stop such behaviour, but the alleged harassment continued. She also accused the doctor of sending objectionable messages on WhatsApp and making inappropriate remarks over phone calls.
The complainant alleged that the misconduct extended beyond the workplace, adding to her distress.
Incident Escalated at Home
According to the complaint, the situation worsened when her husband overheard one of the phone conversations, leading to a domestic dispute and emotional distress. Following repeated incidents, the woman resigned from her job.
Police Register Case, Accused Out of Station
Based on her complaint, a case has been registered at the HSR Layout Police Station. Police officials confirmed that the accused doctor is currently out of station.
“Once he returns, we will initiate legal action,” a police officer said, as per reports.
Rising Concerns Over Workplace Safety
The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding sexual harassment in healthcare workplaces and the need for stricter enforcement of safety and grievance redressal mechanisms.
In a separate but similar case reported earlier, a senior Ayurvedic doctor at a district medical college hospital in Korba was accused of molesting a trainee doctor under the pretext of examination, following which police initiated an investigation.
Authorities are expected to proceed with further action in the Bengaluru case as the investigation unfolds.
