Baramulla : In a significant development aimed at enhancing healthcare services in North Kashmir, District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Safina Beigh on Tuesday conducted a site inspection of the upcoming Ayurvedic Medical College and Associated Hospital at Kanispora, Baramulla.
Accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and other senior officials, Beigh reviewed the progress and assessed land readiness for the project.
She said the establishment of the Ayurvedic Medical College will not only bolster Baramulla’s health infrastructure but also help in mainstreaming traditional and alternative systems of medicine, particularly Ayurveda, under the AYUSH mission.
“This institution holds great promise for the people of Baramulla. It is essential that we do not lose time in bringing this facility to life, especially given the growing demand for traditional and holistic healthcare,” said Safina Beigh.
A major portion of the land for the college has already been formally handed over to the AYUSH department, and more land has been earmarked to facilitate seamless construction and future expansion. Beigh urged the district administration to expedite the remaining land transfer and remove any administrative hurdles.
She also assured that the District Development Council will provide full support in monitoring the progress and addressing challenges to ensure the project begins at the earliest.
Once completed, the facility is expected to offer quality Ayurvedic treatment, serve as a teaching and training institute, and act as a wellness hub for people from Baramulla and adjoining areas.
