Bahraich : Three doctors from Nandini Hospital in Bahraich, including a woman doctor, have been booked for alleged medical negligence following the death of a pregnant woman during treatment. The FIR was registered at Kotwali Dehat police station on the recommendation of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) after a complaint by the deceased’s brother.
According to the FIR, Suraj Tiwari, a resident of Katar village in Shravasti district, admitted his pregnant sister to the hospital on March 29 for delivery. He alleged that doctors performed an operation without conducting necessary medical tests or seeking consent from the family. The woman’s condition deteriorated after the surgery and she died the following day, on March 30.
Shockingly, the hospital allegedly released the body without conducting a mandatory post-mortem examination. Tiwari approached the CMO, blaming the doctors for negligence that led to his sister’s death.
Acting on the complaint, the CMO issued a notice to Dr. DK Vishwakarma, the hospital’s operator, demanding submission of the patient’s medical records. After no response, a health department team carried out a surprise inspection, only to find the hospital locked and the doctors missing.
Based on the CMO’s report, police registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code (death caused by negligence) against Dr. RK Singh, Dr. DK Vishwakarma, and Dr. Preeti Sharma. Station in-charge Pankaj Kumar Singh confirmed that all three doctors are currently absconding and an investigation is underway.
