Court Relies on Witness Testimonies and Medical Evidence in Bateshwar Clinic Murder Case
AGRA: In a significant judgment, a court in Agra has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of an Ayurvedic doctor at his clinic in Bateshwar. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict, nearly two years after the incident that shocked the local medical community.
The verdict was delivered by Additional District Judge Pawan Kumar Srivastava in a case registered at Bah Police Station. During the trial, the prosecution presented 10 witnesses along with documentary and medical evidence, including the post-mortem report, to establish the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s death.
Ayurvedic Practitioner Was Running Clinic for Nearly a Decade
According to the complaint filed by a relative of the deceased, the Ayurvedic practitioner had been operating Sai Chikitsalaya in Bateshwar for nearly 10 years and had earned a reputation for providing treatment to patients in the region. The accused had reportedly been living with the doctor for approximately five years before the incident occurred.
Dispute Escalated Into Fatal Assault
Police investigations revealed that the incident took place late on the night of August 29, 2024. According to investigators, the doctor had allegedly given Rs 400 to the accused to purchase liquor and snacks. However, an argument later broke out between the two men.
Authorities stated that both individuals were allegedly under the influence of alcohol when the dispute escalated. During the altercation, the accused allegedly attacked the doctor with an iron pipe and a metal rod, repeatedly striking him on the head and causing severe injuries.
Victim Succumbed to Serious Head Injuries
The Ayurvedic doctor later succumbed to the grievous injuries sustained in the attack. Following the incident, police arrested the accused and produced him before the court, after which he was sent to judicial custody.
After examining witness statements, medical records, forensic evidence, and other documents submitted by the prosecution, the court found the accused guilty and awarded life imprisonment, bringing the long-running criminal case to a close.
The judgment is being seen as a significant development in a case that highlighted the vulnerability of healthcare practitioners and underscored the importance of timely investigation and prosecution in crimes involving medical professionals.
