A joint operation by India’s top security agencies has intensified the probe into suspected terror links, as teams raided the residence of a paediatric specialist in Varanasi following the recent arrest of four terror suspects in Lucknow.
Joint ATS-IB Operation Targets Doctor’s Residence
Officials from the Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Intelligence Bureau carried out a coordinated raid on Tuesday at the doctor’s house located in the Omkareshwar locality under the Adampur Police Station area.
Security agencies immediately secured the premises and placed the entire family under surveillance as part of the ongoing investigation.
Suspected Links to Arrested Terror Operatives
According to sources, the doctor is believed to have possible links with four individuals recently arrested in Lucknow on terror-related charges. While the exact nature of the connection is still under investigation, officials suspect involvement in a broader network, including potential terror funding activities.
Residential Hospital Also Under Scrutiny
The doctor and his wife reportedly run a hospital within their two-storey residence. The ground floor functions as a seven-room medical facility, while the family resides on the upper floor with their teenage son.
Investigators are examining whether the premises or operations were used in any way to facilitate unlawful activities.
Area Sealed, Security Tightened
Authorities sealed off the narrow lane leading to the residence, restricting access to local residents only. Police personnel from the local station have been deployed outside the house to maintain strict security.
Senior officials made brief visits, but the operation remains under the control of central intelligence agencies.
Electronic Devices Seized for Investigation
Officials have begun scrutinising electronic devices, including mobile phones and laptops, belonging to the doctor and family members. These are expected to play a crucial role in uncovering communication links and financial trails, if any.
The investigation is likely to continue for an extended period as questioning and technical analysis progress.
Earlier NIA Probe Linked to Doctor in Red Fort Blast Case
In a related development, the National Investigation Agency had earlier conducted a major raid in Lucknow in connection with a car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. The operation targeted a female doctor, allegedly a key conspirator dubbed ‘Madam Surgeon’, and led to the recovery of crucial evidence.
The latest कार्रवाई underscores growing concerns over alleged white-collar and professional links in terror networks, with agencies expanding their probe across multiple cities.
