Guwahati: Contractual Rural Posting (CRP) doctors under the National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, have announced a statewide strike beginning September 18, 2025, after repeated appeals over salary delays and revisions went unanswered by authorities. The strike will involve all CRP doctors appointed for one-year rural service across the state.

In a post shared on social media platform ‘X’, the doctors said they were left with no option but to launch the agitation after months of unaddressed demands. They alleged that financial instability caused by inadequate and irregular salaries has made it difficult for them to continue delivering healthcare services in rural and underserved regions.

The strike is expected to severely impact NHM-run primary and community health centres across Assam. The protesting doctors have also warned that if their demands remain unmet, they will resume the strike again after 10 days.
