Bhopal: In a groundbreaking move to unify emergency healthcare delivery across Madhya Pradesh, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal has launched the ‘One State, One Health Emergency Medicine’ initiative. This ambitious program aims to standardise emergency medical services across all hospitals in the state, regardless of size, location, or infrastructure.
Designed to make world-class emergency care accessible to every citizen, the initiative focuses on aligning treatment protocols with available resources, thus bridging critical gaps in healthcare delivery across both urban and rural regions.
Mock Drills and Disaster Preparedness
As part of the rollout, AIIMS Bhopal has begun disaster management mock drills involving healthcare workers and medical students. These drills are tailored to enhance rapid response capabilities and train professionals to handle critical medical emergencies with speed, coordination, and competence.
Leadership Speaks
Speaking to the Free Press Journal, AIIMS Bhopal Director Dr. Ajai Singh said:
“Reaching every citizen of Madhya Pradesh with world-class emergency care is our mission. By adopting standardised protocols during emergencies, we can significantly improve life-saving efforts and reduce regional healthcare disparities.”
Dr. Singh emphasized that the initiative marks a pivotal step in strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure, promising not only better emergency outcomes but also a more equitable and integrated healthcare system for all.
Broader Health Context
The move aligns with India’s wider efforts toward healthcare reform and preparedness. As reported by Medical Dialogues, India is progressing in its One Health goals, which promote integrated approaches to health across human, animal, and environmental domains—especially relevant in a post-pandemic world.
The ‘One State, One Health Emergency Medicine’ initiative is now being seen as a model for other states, with its emphasis on standardisation, preparedness, and inclusivity, setting a new benchmark for emergency healthcare delivery in India.
