₹20 crore project to bring advanced 3D imaging, precision cardiology, and reduced radiation exposure to Uttar Pradesh

In a significant step toward advanced healthcare, Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH) in Prayagraj is set to launch a cutting-edge AI-enabled Cath Lab facility starting this June. The initiative is expected to transform cardiac diagnosis and treatment in the region with high-end technology and improved patient outcomes.
AI Technology to Enhance Accuracy and Safety
The upcoming Cath Lab will feature artificial intelligence-driven systems capable of detecting arterial blockages with high precision. Its intelligent catheter navigation technology is designed to:
- Minimise human error during procedures
- Reduce radiation exposure for both patients and doctors
- Improve accuracy in complex interventions such as stent placements
The system will also provide high-definition 3D imaging, enabling cardiologists to make better-informed decisions in real time.
Early Arrival Amid Global Challenges
Interestingly, the Cath Lab equipment arrived ahead of schedule due to global geopolitical developments. Initially expected via sea shipment from Germany in May, the machine was airlifted and delivered on March 29, ensuring faster installation and readiness.
Third AI Cath Lab in India, First in Uttar Pradesh
Hospital Director Hari Om Singh confirmed that the machine has already been installed and will become operational once the dedicated recovery room is completed.
“This will be the third such AI cath lab facility in the country and the first in Uttar Pradesh,” he stated. The entire project involves an investment of approximately ₹20 crore.
Integrated Diagnostic Ecosystem
To support the new facility, the hospital is developing a dedicated recovery unit equipped with integrated diagnostic services, including:
- Ultrasound
- MRI
- CT scans
- X-rays
This setup will allow patients to access multiple diagnostic services under one roof, reducing the need for movement across departments and improving overall efficiency.
Real-Time Monitoring for Better Outcomes
The AI-powered software embedded in the system will monitor procedures in real time, instantly detecting irregularities. This will enable doctors to respond quickly, ensuring safer and more effective treatment for heart patients.
