A disturbing incident of alleged violence has emerged from Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where a security guard has been accused of physically assaulting and verbally abusing a 25-year-old man. The Shahibaug Police Station has registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Incident Reported Near Trauma Ward Gate
According to the complaint filed by Rahul Marwadi, a daily-wage labourer from Meghaninagar, the incident occurred on the evening of April 24. Rahul had been staying at the hospital to care for his grandfather, who was admitted to Ward F-4 for treatment.
Rahul alleged that he had stepped out for tea and was talking on the phone near the trauma ward gate when a security guard approached him and asked him to lower his voice. What began as a verbal exchange reportedly escalated into abuse and physical aggression.
Allegations of Physical Assault with Stick
The complainant claimed that the security guard not only verbally abused him but also pushed him and later attacked him with a stick. He sustained injuries on his right shoulder and left leg during the altercation. The incident drew attention from bystanders present at the scene.
Rahul informed his mother immediately after the incident, who rushed to the hospital. He later received medical treatment at the hospital’s outpatient department and was discharged.
Police Complaint Filed, Case Registered Under BNS
On the following day, Rahul, along with his mother, approached the Shahibaug police station and filed an official complaint against the accused guard. Based on his statement, police have registered a case under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to voluntarily causing hurt and use of abusive language.
Investigation Underway, Accused Yet to Be Identified
Police officials stated that efforts are currently underway to establish the full identity of the accused security guard and verify the sequence of events. Authorities are also likely to review hospital security protocols in light of the incident.
