Itanagar: Nearly 900 doctors under the Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) have begun a two-day mass casual leave across all districts, protesting against Health Commissioner Pawan Kumar and Health Secretary Ira Singhal.
Key Demands
The association is demanding the immediate transfer of both officials, citing inefficiency in administration, particularly their failure to upgrade medical posts in the state’s healthcare system.
Additionally, the inadequate compensation for ASHA workers has been highlighted as a major concern, with APDA stressing that these issues are directly impacting the quality of healthcare services in the state.
Impact on Healthcare Services
- Emergency services remain functional to ensure that critical medical care is not disrupted.
- Non-emergency surgeries and routine medical procedures have been postponed until further notice.
Call for Action
The APDA alleges that the ineffective policies of the Health Commissioner and Secretary are hindering the Health Minister’s ability to deliver essential healthcare services.
The protest underscores the ongoing struggle to improve healthcare facilities, secure fair treatment for health workers, and ensure a more efficient system for both medical professionals and patients.
