Hyderabad: The medical community in Hyderabad has raised concerns about an unqualified individual operating a clinic in Banjara Hills under the name “Dr. VRK.” This practitioner has been accused of providing dubious medical advice and treatments, including dietary recommendations and extensive prescriptions for serious conditions like type 1 diabetes, cancer, and chronic kidney disease, all based on his self-proclaimed “VRK diet.”
Several doctors have criticized VRK’s practices, which reportedly involve prescribing modern medicines and vitamins despite not being registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or the Medical Council of India (MCI). “He is misusing an honorary doctorate to project himself as a qualified medical professional, thereby misleading patients,” said Dr. Naresh Kumar, a member of the Telangana Medical Council (TMC).
The TMC has initiated an investigation into the individual’s activities. Additionally, the council is addressing a separate complaint against an unqualified practitioner, G. Ramakrishna, in Fort Warangal. The complaint arose after 70-year-old Itaneni Suraya developed a severe skin condition from medicines prescribed by Ramakrishna.
