Tamil Nadu Doctor in Critical Condition After Stabbing Attack by Patient’s Family Member

Suspect Arrested, Investigation Ongoing

Chennai: A Tamil Nadu government doctor, Dr. Balaji Jagannath, was critically injured after being stabbed multiple times in the neck at Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital in Guindy, Chennai, on Wednesday, November 13. The assailant, identified as M. Vignesh, reportedly attacked Dr. Jagannath, accusing him of prescribing incorrect medication to his mother, who is undergoing cancer treatment.

Incident Details and Immediate Response

Vignesh, who entered the Department of Oncology with an outpatient pass, attempted to flee but was apprehended by hospital staff and handed over to the police. Four individuals who accompanied him have also been detained for questioning.

Official Response

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin condemned the incident, confirming Vignesh’s immediate arrest. The case is under investigation, and Vignesh has been remanded in judicial custody.
