Fortis Hospotel enters into a long-term healthcare services agreement for a planned 400+ bed facility in Ashok Vihar, with operations expected to begin within 3–4 years subject to approvals
Fortis Healthcare Limited (FHL) has signed definitive agreements with Seth Sunder Lal Jain Charitable Eye Hospital Society to provide healthcare services at a planned 400+ bed super speciality hospital in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi.
The agreements have been executed through FHL’s wholly owned subsidiary, Fortis Hospotel Limited (FHTL). The hospital is expected to commence operations within three to four years, subject to the required approvals.
Fortis to Provide Inpatient Healthcare Services
Under the Healthcare Services Agreement (HSA), FHTL will have long-term exclusive rights to provide specified inpatient healthcare services at the hospital.
The agreement also covers specialised medical equipment and technologies, including a catheterisation laboratory, LINAC, PET-CT and surgical robot.
FHTL will receive an agreed service fee from the Seth Sunder Lal Jain Charitable Eye Hospital Society and will also provide the clinical manpower required for delivering the contracted healthcare services.
The HSA has a committed term of 29 years, with an option for extension for an additional period on mutually agreed terms.
Hospital to Be Owned and Managed by SLJ Society
The hospital will be owned, operated and managed by the SLJ Society, while Fortis will provide healthcare services under the agreement.
The land, building, civil infrastructure and certain medical infrastructure will be owned and developed by the society.
For construction, upgradation and operation of the facility, FHTL will provide a loan to the society in phases over the next three to four years, linked to construction progress.
400+ Bed Facility Planned in Ashok Vihar
The hospital will be developed on approximately 3.1 acres of land in Ashok Vihar, North-West Delhi.
The planned capacity is more than 400 beds, which will be operationalised in phases.
The facility is planned as a tertiary and quaternary healthcare centre covering multiple major specialties, including:
- Oncology
- Neurosciences
- Cardiac Sciences
- Gastroenterology
- Orthopaedics
- Renal Sciences
- Robotic multispeciality surgeries
- Transplant services
The hospital will also meet applicable regulatory and social obligations by providing free inpatient and outpatient treatment to eligible patients under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.
Fortis to Expand Delhi-NCR Bed Capacity
Dr Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD and CEO of Fortis Healthcare, said the agreement is aimed at expanding access to healthcare services in North-West Delhi through a collaboration with the SLJ Society.
According to the company, the addition of the facility would take Fortis’ services to more than 3,400 beds across the Delhi-NCR region once the project becomes operational.
The collaboration will involve Fortis providing clinical and healthcare services, while the SLJ Society remains responsible for ownership, development and management of the hospital.
