NIMS Hyderabad doctor attacked

Hyderabad : Dr. Rahul, a resident doctor in the Nephrology department at NIMS hospital in Hyderabad was beaten by patient attenders after the patient died of emphysematous pyelonephritis and sepsis hours after she was brought in a critical condition. According to reports, over 20 individuals gheraoed Dr Rahul from the Nephrology department, who was assaulted and beaten by patient attendants. Dr Rahul is a final-year nephrology resident doctor at NIMS Hospital. The Telangana unit of the Indian Medical Association also condemned the incident and demanded strong action to ensure the safety of doctors in hospitals. “We request the Telangana government to declare hospitals as protected zones and formulate necessary protocols to protect the doctors and healthcare professionals while treating the patients,” an IMA statement said.
