34-Year-Old Metro Hospital Doctor Drowns in Ganga at Har Ki Pauri, Body Recovered After Search

Doctor Was Reportedly Swept Away by Strong Currents During Late-Night Outing With Hospital Colleagues

A 34-year-old doctor working at Metro Hospital reportedly drowned in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri after being swept away by strong currents during a late-night outing with three colleagues, police said।

The deceased, a native of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Navodaya Nagar, Roshnabad। According to police, the doctor had visited Har Ki Pauri on the night of August 31 along with three colleagues from the hospital। During the outing, he reportedly slipped into the river and was carried away by the swift current।

Joint Search Operation Launched

The incident was reported to the authorities on September 1, following which a joint search operation was launched by Har Ki Pauri police, Jal Police and emergency rescue teams। Personnel conducted an extensive search along the river to locate the missing doctor।

After an extensive search, the doctor’s body was recovered near the Pathri Power House area on Wednesday evening।

Body Sent for Post-Mortem Examination

Haridwar City Kotwali in-charge KS Rana said the body had been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination। Further legal proceedings are underway, he said।

Police took possession of the body and completed the necessary formalities। The doctor’s family was informed about the incident, while the news reportedly left hospital colleagues and acquaintances in shock।

Further proceedings will be carried out following the post-mortem examination, police said।

Another Resident Doctor Had Drowned in Narmada Canal

The incident comes after another reported drowning involving a medical professional in Gujarat। A 26-year-old resident doctor at GMERS Medical College and Hospital, Gotri, reportedly drowned in a Narmada Canal near Bhimpura village while on an outing with two friends।

The deceased, a native of Khambhat, was a third-year resident pursuing dermatology at GMERS Medical College and Hospital। He reportedly slipped and fell into the canal while visiting the site with his friends। His friends raised an alarm, following which search efforts were initiated and his body was later recovered from the canal।
