Telangana Police have arrested 10 unqualified practitioners during raids on clinics operating in Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts. The individuals were allegedly providing medical consultations and treatment without the required medical qualifications or valid credentials.
The raids were conducted by the Quthbullapur Special Operations Team (SOT), RC Puram zonal teams and local police as part of an ongoing crackdown on unauthorised medical practice.
Clinics Found Operating Without Valid Credentials
According to police, the accused were found operating clinics where patients were allegedly being examined and treated despite the practitioners not possessing the required qualifications or authorisation.
Some of the clinics reportedly provided paediatric consultations and treatment, while others had beds for admitting patients. Police said the nature of the medical services being offered raised concerns about the risks associated with treatment by unqualified practitioners.
Medical Equipment Seized During Raids
During the raids, officials seized medical equipment from the premises, including 10 stethoscopes, nine blood pressure machines and 10 thermometers, along with other items used for providing medical treatment.
According to the New Indian Express, the Quthbullapur Deputy Commissioner of Police said the accused were operating clinics without the required medical qualifications or valid credentials.
The police also found that some establishments were offering treatment to children, while others had facilities for admitting patients.
Police Continue Action Against Illegal Medical Practice
The raids have once again highlighted concerns over unauthorised medical practice in Telangana, particularly in cases where unqualified individuals are treating children or admitting patients at private clinics.
The allegations against the arrested individuals will be subject to further investigation and due legal process. Police are continuing to examine the findings from the raids and the medical services allegedly provided by the accused.
