Haryana Health Minister : To include Ayurveda in MBBS Course

Ambala : The State Health Minister Anil Vij said in a State level program of 75 lakh “Surya Namaskar Campaign” in Ambala Cantonment that the Haryana Government was planning to include a year of mandatory ayurveda studies pursuing the five year MBBS course. He added that he had constituted a team to formulate and prepare the course programme for teaching ayurveda in the MBBS course. Vij further said that the ultimate aim of medical science was to provide relief and cure to the patient. “Thus both ayurveda and allopathy should be integrated and used when required. The government intend is to promote traditional medicines and add them to the daily lives of the people” he said.

Meanwhile experts have expressed concerned on the move by Haryana Government. They were of the opinion that the move will ultimately harm the health system in the state and the mixture of ayurveda and conventional medicine will disrupt the healthcare system in the State.
