Dausa District Hospital doctor passes away during medical evaluation in Jaipur; neurologist stresses early diagnosis and timely treatment of cardiac symptoms
A tragic incident has shocked the medical fraternity after a 40-year-old psychiatrist, Dr. Himanshu Sharma, posted at Dausa District Hospital in Rajasthan, died of a suspected heart attack in Jaipur on Friday. The doctor reportedly experienced severe chest pain at his residence before being taken to a private hospital, where his condition deteriorated during medical evaluation.
According to initial reports, Dr. Sharma was at his Jaipur residence when he developed chest pain. His wife, who is also a doctor and serves at Jaipuria Government Hospital in Jaipur, rushed him to a private hospital in Malviya Nagar around 10 a.m. However, despite immediate medical attention, he passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of death was a heart attack, though the exact cause will be confirmed after the final medical report.
Chest Pain Reportedly Began Two Days Earlier
Reports suggest that Dr. Sharma had experienced chest pain two days before his death but considered the symptoms minor. He reportedly took medication on his own and decided to take leave from work as a precaution while staying in Jaipur. His sudden demise has once again highlighted the importance of taking chest pain seriously and seeking immediate medical evaluation.
Dr. Himanshu Sharma had been serving as a psychiatrist at Dausa District Hospital since 2023. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Medical Expert Warns Against Ignoring Warning Signs
Reacting to the incident, neurologist Dr. Sudhir Kumar of Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, shared a message on social media, emphasizing that chest pain should never be dismissed as acidity, gas, or stress without proper medical assessment. He noted that heart attacks are often preceded by warning symptoms, providing a critical opportunity for timely diagnosis and life-saving treatment.
He also advised people to avoid self-medication, identify cardiovascular risk factors, maintain a heart-healthy lifestyle, and seek emergency medical care whenever symptoms suggest a possible heart attack.
Medical Community Mourns the Loss
The untimely demise of Dr. Sharma has triggered an outpouring of grief across the medical community. Several doctors and colleagues expressed their condolences on social media, remembering him as a dedicated psychiatrist and compassionate healthcare professional.
Hospital Administration Awaits Final Medical Report
Confirming the incident, PMO Dr. R.K. Meena said that the hospital received the news of Dr. Himanshu Sharma’s death around 11 a.m. He described the psychiatrist as a cheerful and friendly doctor who shared a close bond with both patients and hospital staff.
Dr. Meena stated that while the preliminary suspicion points to a heart attack, the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the final medical report is available.
