AIIMS Raipur Secures Sixth Position Among Government Hospitals in India
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur has achieved a major milestone by securing a prestigious position in the Newsweek World’s Best Hospitals in India 2026 rankings. The institute ranked sixth among India’s leading government hospitals and emerged as the highest-ranked institution among the new AIIMS establishments across the country.
The international recognition highlights the institute’s rapid growth in patient care, medical education, research and healthcare innovation. The rankings were based on several key parameters including hospital quality metrics, peer recommendations, patient experience and implementation of Patient Reported Outcome Measures surveys.
AIIMS Raipur Strengthens Position as Emerging Healthcare Hub
Despite facing challenges related to faculty shortages, AIIMS Raipur has recorded remarkable progress over the last two years across multiple medical specialities, infrastructure expansion and advanced clinical services. The institute has significantly improved access to affordable and high-quality healthcare services for patients from Chhattisgarh and Central India.
Among its notable achievements is the launch of Central India’s first government robotic surgery facility “Devhast”. The institute also established Chhattisgarh’s first Biosafety Level-3 laboratory and achieved major success in kidney transplantation, including the state’s first paired kidney transplant performed in a government hospital.
Advanced Medical Facilities and Research Initiatives Boost Recognition
AIIMS Raipur has further expanded its advanced nuclear medicine services and inaugurated a second cardiac catheterization laboratory to strengthen cardiac care. The institute also established a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence laboratory and launched a dedicated Department of Surgical Oncology.
In addition to clinical advancements, the institute has earned national recognition for biomedical innovation, research collaborations, NABL-accredited laboratories, disaster response preparedness and public health initiatives.
