According to police officials, hospital staff discovered the patient in a critical condition after he had allegedly injured himself using a blade. Doctors and medical personnel immediately rushed to provide emergency treatment, but the patient later succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Ali, a resident of Basti, who had reportedly been admitted to the hospital for nearly one month for liver cancer treatment.
Financial stress suspected behind incident
Preliminary investigation suggests that the patient was under severe mental stress due to prolonged illness and mounting medical expenses. Officials said financial difficulties related to treatment may have contributed to the incident.

According to media reports, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Kumar Anand stated that all angles are being examined in the case.
Questions raised over hospital security
Investigators are also probing how the patient managed to obtain a blade inside the hospital despite existing security protocols. Statements of hospital staff, attendants, and family members are currently being recorded as part of the inquiry.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
The incident triggered panic among patients, attendants, and hospital staff inside the medical facility, following which security personnel cordoned off the area.
Officials stated that legal formalities are underway and further details are expected to emerge after the investigation progresses.
