Jaipur: The Rajasthan Government has issued directives to regularise the Awaiting Posting Orders (APO) period for doctors. This ends delays faced by in-service doctors after completing postgraduate studies and senior residency.
Waiting Periods Recognised
Doctors waiting at the Directorate Headquarters due to suspension or administrative reasons will have their APO period regularised. Proposals will be sent to the State Government through the Directorate.
Attendance Mandatory During Interim
Doctors who completed PG, DNB, DM, MCH, Senior Residency, PCPNDT training, and other approved programmes must mark attendance at their respective medical colleges until official postings.
Salary for Waiting Period
After completion of study or extraordinary leave, salaries for the interim period will be disbursed by the institution of the new posting. Payment will be based on attendance certification, and waiting time will be treated as regular service.
Postings and Joining Rules
Only doctors joining within the prescribed timeframe after posting will have the waiting period counted as regular service. Late joining requires submission of a proposal to the State Government through the Directorate.
Flexibility for Vacant Positions
If no vacant positions exist, the Chief Medical and Health Officer can draw salary from equivalent posts in the district or division to ensure uninterrupted payment.
Private University Graduates Included
Doctors returning from private universities after higher studies will follow the same rules for attendance, salary, and waiting period until they are officially posted.
Doctors’ Bodies Welcome Decision
Dr. Bharat Pareek, President of United Doctors’ Front (UDF) Rajasthan, welcomed the order as a win for fairness and professional justice, addressing delays, salary issues, and procedural hurdles.
