Rajkot Rural Police Seize Medicines and Equipment Worth Over ₹51,000
Jetpur: In a major crackdown on illegal medical practice, the Rajkot Rural Special Operation Group (SOG) arrested a man in Jetpur of Rajkot district for allegedly treating patients without possessing a valid medical degree or registration.
Acting on a tip-off, the SOG team carried out a surprise raid at a dispensary where the accused was reportedly practising allopathic medicine. Authorities said the operation was launched after receiving specific information that the individual was endangering lives by offering treatment without proper qualifications.
During the search, police recovered allopathic medicines, injections and medical equipment collectively valued at ₹51,655. The materials were seized as evidence, and the dispensary was found to be functioning without legal authorization.
The accused has been detained, and further investigation is underway to determine the duration and scale of his alleged illegal practice. Officials are also probing whether more individuals were involved in assisting the operation.
Police officials stated that such unauthorized medical practices pose a serious threat to public health, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where residents may unknowingly rely on unqualified practitioners for treatment.
In a similar incident earlier in Surendranagar district, police arrested an eighth-grade pass man who was operating an illegal clinic in Dhalwana village of Limbdi taluka. Medical items and allopathic medicines worth ₹14,700 were seized from his premises.
The earlier arrest followed multiple complaints about fake doctors operating in rural pockets of Surendranagar. Acting on these inputs, the SOG conducted a special patrol and verification drive in Limbdi taluka, leading to the detection of the illegal clinic.
Authorities have reiterated that strict action will continue against quacks and unregistered practitioners across the region. Police have urged citizens to verify the credentials of medical professionals before seeking treatment and to report any suspicious clinics to the authorities.
