Hyderabad, Telangana: In a significant crackdown on quackery, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) unearthed four fake medical practitioners, a doctor operating without proper registration, and an unauthorized private hospital during a surprise inspection in Siddipet district.
The inspection was carried out by a team led by TSMC Vice-Chairman Dr. B. Srinivas, along with Dr. Vishnu and Dr. Vijaya, as part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and uphold medical ethics in the state.
Hospital Operating Without Permission
The inspection team found that Arvind Sai Hospital in Siddipet was operating without obtaining mandatory permissions from the District Medical Officer. Even more concerning, no doctors were present at the facility at the time of the inspection.
At Pulse Neuro Superspecialty Hospital, another violation was found where a doctor was treating patients without registration with the Telangana Medical Council — a serious breach of regulatory norms.
Quacks Busted
The Council also exposed four unqualified individuals practising as doctors:
- Prasad – Running Prasad First Aid Centre
- Murali – Operating Bharagavi First Aid Centre
- Nagraj – Running Satwik First Aid Centre
- Sudhakar Reddy – Operating Rajeshwari First Aid Centre, Gandhi Nagar
“These individuals were impersonating licensed medical professionals and treating unsuspecting patients,” said a TSMC spokesperson.
Legal Action Initiated
TSMC has confirmed that cases will be registered against the accused under multiple provisions, including:
- Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act
- Section 22 of the Telangana State Medical Practitioners Registration (TSMPR) Act
- Sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
“These actions are essential to protect the public from life-threatening medical malpractice and to ensure only qualified professionals are permitted to offer healthcare services,” the Council said.
Wider Compliance Drive Underway
The Council also inspected 20 other hospitals in Siddipet to assess whether doctors were properly registered and whether the facilities had appropriate operational clearances. An awareness session on the Code of Medical Ethics was held to educate the medical fraternity about legal responsibilities and ethical conduct.
Statewide Effort Against Quackery
Earlier, TSMC had uncovered multiple unauthorized healthcare setups in Devarakonda and Mall towns of Nalgonda district, including a case where an optometrist was illegally performing surgeries and administering antibiotics under the banner of a fully equipped hospital.
