Hyderabad: Defying age stereotypes, Dr. Neeli Ramchander, a 62-year-old paediatrician from Nizamabad, Telangana, has successfully cleared NEET PG 2024 and is preparing to pursue an MD in Pharmacology at a government medical college. His remarkable journey is a testament to the power of dedication, perseverance, and lifelong learning.

A Return to Student Life After Three Decades

Dr. Ramchander has been a practicing paediatrician for over 30 years, earning immense respect in his field. However, his passion for learning and desire to expand his expertise motivated him to take on the challenging NEET PG exam, a feat that many younger aspirants struggle with.

A Dream Finally Fulfilled

Despite an illustrious career that includes serving as the National Vice-President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (2014) and founding the Telangana Pediatric Association, Dr. Ramchander always dreamt of obtaining an MD degree. His achievements have been widely recognized, with honors such as the National Red Cross Gold Medal (2017-2018), but his goal of pursuing an MD had remained unfulfilled—until now.

A Lifelong Commitment to Medicine

Dr. Ramchander’s medical journey began in 1982 with a BPharma course, but he later switched to MBBS at Kakatiya University. He then specialized in paediatrics, earning a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) between 1991 and 1993. However, his busy professional life kept him from further academic pursuits. Now, at 62, he is finally returning to medical school, proving that passion and perseverance can break any barriers, including age.

His story is a powerful inspiration for lifelong learners and a reminder that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
