Faculty Member Files Complaint in Jaipur

A female faculty member at Sawai Mansingh Medical College has levelled allegations of misconduct and harassment against a senior professor from her department. The complaint, filed nearly a month ago, has led to parallel administrative inquiries at both the college and state levels in Jaipur.

College Constitutes Internal Inquiry Committee

Following receipt of the complaint, the college administration initiated a formal internal investigation. The Principal constituted an inquiry committee to examine the allegations and recommend further action based on its findings.

Committee Submits Findings

The internal committee has now completed its review and submitted its report to the Principal earlier this week. Authorities have not disclosed details of the findings but confirmed that due process was followed during the inquiry.

Senior Officials Part of Probe Panel

The inquiry panel included two Additional Principals—Dr. R.K. Jain and Dr. Monica Jain—former Additional Principal B.L. Kumawat, Student Welfare Dean Dr. Anita Singhal, along with other senior officials and both the current and former Heads of the Department. The panel reportedly conducted a thorough examination before finalising its report.

State Medical Department Steps In

The matter has also drawn attention at the state level. Rajasthan’s Principal Secretary (Medical Education), Gayatri Rathore, has formed a separate two-member team and sought a detailed report on the issue, indicating the seriousness of the allegations.

Principal Confirms Complaint

Confirming the development, the Principal stated that a complaint had been received and that an inquiry committee was promptly constituted to investigate the matter. Further administrative steps are expected after reviewing the submitted findings.

Broader Concerns Over Safety in Medical Institutions

The incident adds to growing concerns regarding workplace safety and harassment within medical institutions. Recent reports from other states have also highlighted similar issues involving healthcare professionals.

Context of Recent Incidents

Medical Dialogues had recently reported a separate case involving a resident doctor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur, where three accused were arrested following allegations of racial abuse and assault. Such incidents have prompted renewed discussions on institutional accountability and staff protection across medical campuses.
