New Delhi: Newsweek, in partnership with global data platform Statista, has released the World’s Best Hospitals 2025 rankings. Statista projects that the number of hospitals worldwide will reach 215,977 by 2026.
The annual list highlights the top 250 hospitals globally, along with country-wise rankings. This year, 100 Indian hospitals have been featured, including three that secured positions among the top 250 worldwide.
🌍 Countries Featured in the 2025 Rankings
The list includes hospitals from 30 countries, such as Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAE, UK, and the USA.
These nations were selected based on factors like standard of living, life expectancy, population, hospital density, and data availability.
🏥 How the Rankings Were Determined
The 2025 rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation process that included:
- Online survey of thousands of medical experts across 30 countries
- Patient satisfaction data from existing surveys
- Hospital quality indicators, such as treatment outcomes, hygiene measures, and staffing levels
- Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) implementation survey
Although over 2,400 hospitals were considered, only the top 250 were highlighted.

1. AIIMS, New Delhi — Rank 97
India’s premier medical institute remains the highest-ranked Indian hospital globally.
2. Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram — Rank 146
The multi-specialty facility continues to uphold India’s international healthcare reputation.
3. PGIMER, Chandigarh — Rank 228
PGIMER secures its position among the world’s leading health institutions.
Additionally, 97 more hospitals from India feature in the extended list, including:
CMC Vellore, Apollo Hospitals Chennai, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (Mumbai), Breach Candy Hospital, P.D. Hinduja Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, and several others.
