Hyderabad: A woman whose surgery was performed for the removal of gall bladder allegedly died due to the negligence of the surgeons at Mohammadi Hospital located at Latifabad. On the complaint of the husband of the deceased patient an examination was later conducted at the govt-run Civil Hospital revealed that the surgeon performing the procedure of removing the gall bladder had ripped through the liver leading to excessive bleeding and death of the patient.
As per details, Maqsood, a resident of Pakka Qila, brought his wife Noreen to Mohammadi Hospital located at Latifabad Unit No 5 Chowk for a gallbladder surgery. However, the woman died during treatment at the hospital. It is being alleged thatwWithin an hour of the surgery, the doctor told the patient’s husband that there was an emergency and asked to arrange blood for transfusion. When the family arranged blood and brought it to the hospital, an ambulance was already there which was called by the surgeon himself.
The doctor asked the family to immediately shift the patient to Civil Hospital. Doctors at Civil Hospital said that the woman had died two hours ago. They further said that the private hospital’s doctors were so incompetent and careless that they shifted the victim to Civil Hospital without even stitching the wound. After the examination, the Civil Hospital doctors said that during the gall bladder-removing procedure the surgeon had caused a slit in the liver, due to which blood was lost, leading to the death of the patient. The deceased patient relative alleged that later when they returned to the private hospital, the doctor was not there and neither did he attend the call. They said that the hospital management initially refused to accept the doctor’s negligence. But later, the lady medical superintendent of the hospital admitted that the woman’s condition had worsened due to a cut in the liver during the surgical procedure. She assured that action would be taken against the negligent doctor after investigation by the hospital administration.
