Illegal Clinic Performs Fatal “Stone Removal” Procedure
Barabanki: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked outrage, a 38-year-old woman died after two men—posing as doctors—attempted to perform an abdominal “stone removal surgery” by following YouTube tutorial videos. The procedure was conducted at an illegal clinic run by a former village head and his nephew, neither of whom had any medical qualification or training.
Duo Watched YouTube Videos Before Botched Surgery
According to police, the accused relied on online surgical videos to perform the operation. They allegedly made a deep incision in the woman’s abdomen, cutting critical nerves and blood vessels. Gross negligence during the procedure led to her death the next evening.
Victim’s Husband Highlights Shocking Negligence
The husband told News18 that the accused examined the woman merely by touching her stomach and declared she had a “stone” that required immediate surgery. They initially demanded ₹25,000 for the operation but settled for ₹20,000. The husband said the duo “had no idea where to cut or how to handle bleeding” and were improvising throughout the procedure.
Local Residents Protest After Woman’s Death
After the woman’s condition worsened and she died, locals and family members staged a road blockade with her body, demanding immediate action. Police officials reached the spot, assured strict action, and the protest came to an end. The woman’s body was sent for postmortem, and her last rites were conducted after the report was received.
Accused Attempted to Bribe Victim’s Family
The husband revealed that the former village head tried to bribe him to prevent legal action, but he refused. He later filed a formal complaint with the police.
FIR Registered for Culpable Homicide
Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the duo for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Both accused are currently absconding, and multiple teams have been deployed to track them down.
Clinic Sealed by Health Authorities
On Tuesday, Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Kothi Community Health Centre, pasted a closure notice outside the clinic. He confirmed that neither accused possessed a medical degree, license, or training, and stated that running such a facility is a serious criminal offence.
Community Demands Stronger Action Against Quackery
The shocking case has renewed public demands for strict enforcement against fake doctors and illegal clinics, which continue to pose a major threat to public health and safety.
