Rajkot: In a disturbing breach of privacy, several videos of women being examined at a maternity hospital in Gujarat have surfaced online, raising serious concerns over the security and safety of female patients.
The leaked CCTV footage, allegedly from Payal Maternity Home in Rajkot, shows nursing staff administering injections to women patients. These clips were widely shared on YouTube and Telegram, eventually catching the attention of Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police.
Hospital Claims Server Hacked
When questioned, the hospital’s director, Dr. Amit Akbari, claimed that the CCTV server was hacked.
“I don’t know how the videos went viral. It seems our CCTV system was compromised. We will file a complaint and fully cooperate with the police investigation,” he said.
Police Investigation Underway
A case has been registered by the Rajkot Cyber Crime Police, and the entire hospital staff, including doctors, is being interrogated.
Authorities are now analyzing the content of the videos, investigating who accessed and leaked them, and determining the motive behind the act. Legal action is being pursued under Sections 66E and 67 of the IT Act, which deal with privacy violations and obscene material dissemination.
This alarming incident underscores the growing risks of cyber intrusions in healthcare institutions, emphasizing the urgent need for stricter security protocols to protect patient privacy.
