Accused Allegedly Switched Off CCTV Cameras Before Molestation
Vasai: A 54-year-old anaesthetist at a well-known hospital in Vasai has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing and molesting a 35-year-old female doctor over the past two years.
Victim’s Allegations
- The accused, a qualified intensivist (MD in Intensive Care), allegedly switched off CCTV cameras before making unwanted advances.
- He reportedly demanded sexual favors in exchange for career advancement opportunities.
- The victim, who has been working at the hospital for years, initially filed an internal complaint in January, but after an unsatisfactory response, she approached the police.
Police Action and Investigation
- A molestation case was registered at Vasaigaon police station on Monday.
- The accused was arrested and is currently in police custody for further investigation.
“The survivor endured harassment for two years before coming forward. We acted immediately upon her complaint,” said Zonal DCP Pournima Chougule-Shringi.
The police are now investigating hospital management’s response and whether any other victims may have faced similar harassment.
