Uttarakhand High Court grants conditional bail to doctor accused of “Digital Rape”

Dehradun : A single judge bench of Justice Alok Verma of Uttarakhand High Court granted bail to a doctor accused of “Digital Rape” of a student in the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology as the prosecution was unable to present the medical report of the girl allegedly raped by the accused doctor. The counsel for the accused doctor told the court that the chargesheet has been presented in the court and the scope of tampering with the evidence by the doctor does not arise and hence the doctor should be given bail.

In her police complaint the victim has stated on November 30 she went to the doctor after pain while urinating. The doctor advised her to give a urine sample and the reportedly told her that he needed to examine her private parts to check for infection. The victim said that she refused the doctor to examine her private parts but the doctor proceeded to digitally rape her. The victim further said that initially she was not in a mental state to report the incident. When another student of the university reported a similar case she gathered courage and filed a complaint against the doctor.
