
Major Developments Announced for Advanced Healthcare Services
Shimla: Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda visited AIIMS Bilaspur on Friday, launching several new health facilities and reaffirming the central government’s commitment to expanding healthcare services.
During his visit, he interacted with AIIMS officials, doctors, and patients and announced plans to establish 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country by 2027.
Inauguration of AMRIT Pharmacy for Affordable Medicines
Nadda inaugurated the Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) Pharmacy on the third floor of AIIMS Bilaspur. This pharmacy, the 225th in the country, will provide life-saving medicines at a discount of over 50%, making healthcare more affordable for patients.
Advanced Medical Imaging Facilities Unveiled
The Union Minister inaugurated Rs 25 crore-worth advanced diagnostic tools, including:
- Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography (PET CT): Facilitates early detection of cancer and heart diseases.
- Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT CT): Helps in detailed examinations of bones, kidneys, and heart conditions.
These cutting-edge imaging technologies will enhance diagnosis and treatment of critical illnesses such as cancer, neurological disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
Foundation Laid for Virology Research Lab and Patient Rest House
Nadda also laid the foundation stone for a Virology Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. This facility will:
- Detect infectious diseases and viral outbreaks.
- Support virus research, vaccine development, and epidemic management.
Additionally, he performed the bhoomi pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) for a rest house at AIIMS Bilaspur, to be built for Rs 15 crore. This accommodation will provide relief to patients and families undergoing long-term treatment. Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur proposed increasing the capacity from 250 to 500 beds to accommodate more people.
Announcement of Indoor Stadium and Healthcare Expansion
The Union Minister announced the construction of a Rs 4.90 crore indoor stadium at AIIMS Bilaspur. Additionally, under the Bhishma Cube Arogya Maitri Scheme, AIIMS Bilaspur will receive support to extend advanced medical services to remote areas, ensuring better healthcare accessibility.
