
Draw of Lots Conducted in Presence of Health Minister JP Nadda
New Delhi – The Union Health Ministry has officially announced the appointment of part-time members to the National Medical Commission (NMC), following a draw of lots conducted as per the provisions of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda took part in the selection process, which also included appointments to the Autonomous Boards and the Search Committee under the NMC framework.
Appointments Made as per NMC Act, 2019
According to the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, part-time members are appointed for a fixed term of two years. The selection process, as mandated, involves drawing lots to ensure transparency and representation from across states and union territories.
Ten Members Chosen from State/UT Government Nominees
Ten part-time members were selected from among the nominees of State and Union Territory governments who were previously part of the Medical Advisory Council. These include representatives from:
- Gujarat
- Rajasthan
- Himachal Pradesh
- Andaman & Nicobar Islands
- Andhra Pradesh
- Mizoram
- Meghalaya
- Jharkhand
- Chandigarh
- Madhya Pradesh
Nine Members Selected from State Medical Council Nominees
In addition, nine part-time members were drawn from nominees of State Medical Councils, also part of the Medical Advisory Council. These states include:
- West Bengal
- Karnataka
- Nagaland
- Chhattisgarh
- Tripura
- Jammu & Kashmir
- Assam
- Manipur
- Uttarakhand
