New Delhi: Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri JP Nadda, convened a high-level review meeting with Haryana Health Minister and senior state officials to evaluate healthcare delivery and strengthen implementation of national health programmes. Key areas discussed included patient-centric care, public health system strengthening, regulatory oversight, and tuberculosis (TB) elimination.
Strengthening Drug Regulation: Shri Nadda emphasised the need for robust drug regulation, noting that continuous monitoring across the pharmaceutical supply chain is essential to ensure quality and safety. He urged authorities to institutionalise best practices and prioritise improvements in patient satisfaction, compliance, and regulatory oversight.
Free Drugs and Diagnostics Schemes: On the Free Drugs and Free Diagnostics schemes, the Health Minister highlighted the importance of strong supply-chain management and effective monitoring to ensure uninterrupted availability of medicines and diagnostic tests at public health facilities.
Enhancing Diagnostic Services: Shri Nadda stressed that timely and high-quality diagnostics underpin effective healthcare delivery. He called for professional management of hospital administration, regulatory compliance, and strengthened oversight of blood banks and safety standards. He also suggested collaboration with HLL Lifecare Ltd to establish AMRIT Retail Pharmacy Stores at every district hospital.
Technology-Led Healthcare Solutions: Highlighting the role of telemedicine, the Union Minister said digital healthcare platforms can bridge access gaps, particularly in remote and underserved areas. He lauded Haryana for its active adoption of telemedicine services to improve healthcare reach.
TB Elimination Mission: Shri Nadda reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to eliminating TB through district-level interventions, including screening, diagnostics, treatment adherence, and nutritional support. He noted the introduction of AI-enabled handheld X-ray units for community-level TB screening and NAAT machines at the block level for early detection of drug-resistant TB.
Community Participation: Emphasising public engagement, the Minister acknowledged the role of over 350 MY Bharat volunteers in Haryana who have joined the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative. He urged close linkage with TB patients to provide psycho-social support and raise community awareness, stressing mission-mode implementation with monitoring at district and block levels.
Centre-State Collaboration: Shri Nadda reaffirmed continued support to Haryana through NHM interventions, PPP models, medical education expansion, infrastructure, and technical training. The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen drug regulation, advance diagnostic services, professionalise hospital administration, expand medical education capacity, and accelerate TB elimination, highlighting cooperative federalism in public health.
