Patient-Centric Navigation Initiative
New Delhi: In a bid to improve patient experience and hospital navigation, Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Saturday launched AIIMS Disha, a mobile app designed to help patients, visitors, and hospital staff navigate the AIIMS campus with ease.
Advanced Technology for Seamless Guidance
AIIMS authorities said the app uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and AI-based routing algorithms to provide real-time, turn-by-turn directions. The interactive digital maps ensure that visitors can reach OPD rooms, diagnostic centres, pharmacies, and billing counters without confusion or delays.
Vision for Smart Healthcare
Dr M Srinivas, director of AIIMS Delhi, highlighted, “AIIMS Disha represents our vision of leveraging next-generation AI and IoT technologies for patient-centric services, positioning AIIMS not only as a healthcare institution but also as a pioneer in digital hospital navigation.”
Features of AIIMS Disha
The app provides 2D maps with detailed floor plans, location-based intelligent routing, and offline navigation capabilities. It offers customised routes for patients using wheelchairs, turn-by-turn voice and visual directions, multi-floor and multi-building navigation, and multilingual accessibility-on-demand. Users can also search for doctors, labs, pharmacies, billing counters, and other amenities.
Operational Efficiency and Crowd Management
AIIMS officials added that the app would improve operational efficiency, reduce waiting times, and provide a stress-free experience for patients. Live heat maps help manage crowd flow, while Android- and iOS-operated kiosks inside the hospital support on-site navigation.
