Guidelines Apply to Those Opting Out of NPA
The Governor of Tripura has approved new directives regulating private practice for medical officers under the Tripura Health Services (THS) who have chosen to forgo the Non-Practising Allowance (NPA). These rules are based on earlier government notifications and the Tripura Health Service Rules, 1974, along with subsequent amendments.
Ban on Practice During OPD Hours
Medical officers are prohibited from engaging in private practice during Out-Patient Department (OPD) hours on working days. This ensures that official duties are not compromised.
No Private Practice on Government Premises
The guidelines strictly forbid conducting private medical practice within government-owned premises, including quarters or other accommodations provided by the state.
Location Restriction for Private Practice
Doctors can only engage in private practice within 8 kilometres of their headquarters or official posting location, ensuring availability for their government-assigned duties.
Strict Enforcement and Disciplinary Action
The Health & Family Welfare Department has made it clear that violations will attract disciplinary action under applicable service regulations. Medical officers are urged to maintain the highest standards of conduct and professionalism.
