Agartala: The Tripura government has established a Permanent Committee to regulate the fee structures for various courses offered by private medical colleges in the state. The initiative aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with directives from the Supreme Court of India.
Committee Composition
The five-member panel is chaired by Justice SC Das, a former High Court Judge, and includes:
- Kiran Gitte – Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department (Member-Secretary)
- Dr. Anup Kumar Barman – Member of the National Medical Commission’s Medical Assessment and Rating Committee, and President of the Assam Medical Council (Nominated by the NMC)
- B.K. Roy, IPS (Retd.) – Member (Nominated by the Chairperson)
- Ratan Kumar Das – Chartered Accountant (Nominated by the Chairperson)
Responsibilities of the Committee
The committee will evaluate and approve proposed fee structures submitted by private medical institutions for each academic year. Colleges are required to include supporting documents and financial records for review.
