50-Bed Urban Health Center to Reduce Patient Load on Major Hospitals
Agartala, Tripura – Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a new Civil Hospital near Jackson Gate in Agartala, reinforcing the government’s commitment to quality healthcare services. The upcoming 50-bed urban health center aims to reduce the burden on GB Pant and IGM Hospitals, offering accessible medical care to city residents, business owners, and visitors.
Key Features of the Upcoming Hospital
- Outpatient departments (OPDs) for multiple specialties.
- A minor operation theater (OT) for small surgical procedures.
- Healthcare services for workers and local residents without requiring them to visit larger hospitals.
- Operating hours from 8 AM to 8 PM, ensuring accessibility for all.
- A lift for patient convenience and an easily accessible central location.
CM Saha emphasized that the facility, to be operated by the Agartala Municipal Corporation, draws inspiration from municipal-run hospitals in Mumbai, such as Nair Medical College. The Health Secretary, Kiran Gitte, played a crucial role in identifying the location, which previously housed the Labour Department office.
Additional Healthcare Initiatives
In addition to the new hospital, CM Saha highlighted other healthcare measures:
- A mid-day meal service at GB Hospital for just ₹10, ensuring affordable meals for patients and families.
- Budget allocation for a shelter house to accommodate patient families.
The event was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor & MLA Dipak Majumdar, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Agartala Smart City Mission official Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other dignitaries.
With the completion of this new milestone for Tripura’s healthcare system, the government aims to enhance public health services and improve medical accessibility across the city.
