Kolkata: A 26-year-old trainee doctor was found dead in his hostel room at MJN Medical College and Hospital in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, on Thursday, police confirmed.
Possible Suicide or Murder?
The deceased, a resident of Bihar’s Begusarai district, was pursuing a medical internship at the government-run MJN Medical College after completing his MBBS.
Police suspect it to be a suicide, as the doctor was found hanging in his room. However, the family has alleged murder, stating that his feet were touching the ground, raising suspicions of foul play.
Murder Case Registered
Following a complaint by the doctor’s father, police registered an FIR under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS) on Friday.
“We are waiting for the autopsy report and will investigate thoroughly,” said an IPS officer from Cooch Behar.
While the preliminary probe has found no clear evidence of foul play, authorities have assured the family of a detailed investigation.
