Chennai: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian handed over transfer orders to 1,127 doctors after the recent counselling session at the DMS campus in Chennai. He emphasized that the transfer process has been fair and transparent over the past four years.
Key Highlights
- In 2024, the Medical Recruitment Board (MRB) recruited 1,021 doctors, along with 900 pharmacists and 1,000 nurses through counselling.
- Out of 1,127 doctors, 893 received postings at their preferred locations, with many securing positions in their hometowns.
- The minister described this as a significant achievement, ensuring that most doctors got their preferred locations.
Government Hiring Initiatives
- 12,290 doctors have been appointed in this tenure, along with 6,818 nurses, 1,302 pharmacists, and 18,953 other healthcare workers.
- Over the past four years, a total of 40,490 professionals have been recruited through:
- Medical Recruitment Board (MRB)
- Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC)
- National Health Mission (NHM)
- District Health Society
- 4,615 more positions, including pharmacists, village health nurses, and health officers, are set to be filled soon.
Upcoming Recruitment
The minister announced that 2,642 doctors will receive their appointment orders on February 26, ensuring that Tamil Nadu becomes the first state with no doctor vacancies in government hospitals.
