Hyderabad: Recent raids by the Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) in Hanumakonda and Kazipet have exposed cases of unauthorized medical practice and the illicit sale of restricted drugs.
The investigation began after a complaint about the treatment of a 60-year-old woman, Mangamma, who was hospitalized in critical condition following care from Bandi Sadanandam, an unlicensed practitioner operating a first aid center in Deen Dayal Nagar.
During the operation, officials identified two additional fake doctors, Mittapalli Sambamoorthy and K. Prabhakar, who were running unauthorized clinics despite holding only lab technician qualifications.
The raids also revealed that Veena Medicals was illegally selling Schedule H drugs without valid prescriptions. “Dispensing restricted drugs without prescriptions from pharmacists or qualified doctors is a serious threat to public health,” said Dr. Anwar Mia, president of the Warangal Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The TGMC plans to lodge complaints with the Drug Control Authority and recommend the cancellation of pharmacy licenses for businesses engaged in these unlawful activities.
