Murder Plot Unraveled, Wife and Two Accomplices Arrested
Hyderabad: A Telangana doctor, who was brutally attacked in Warangal allegedly at the behest of his wife and her lover, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, eight days after the assault.
Brutal Attack on the Doctor
Dr. Sumanth Reddy was ambushed on Battupalli Road on February 20 when assailants deliberately struck his car from behind to force him out. As he stepped out to inspect the damage, they repeatedly bludgeoned his head with a hammer and fled, assuming he was dead.
Passersby rushed him to MGM Hospital in Warangal before he was transferred to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. However, due to his worsening condition, he was brought back to Warangal, where he succumbed.
Investigation and Arrests
Following a complaint by Sumanth’s father, Sudhakar Reddy, police reviewed CCTV footage and tracked down the accused. On Thursday, authorities arrested his wife, Flora Maria, her lover Samuel, and their accomplice Rajkumar, as they attempted to sell stolen gold from Sumanth’s house.
Affair and Murder Conspiracy
Sumanth and Flora married in 2016 and moved to Sangareddy in 2018, where he worked as a contract medical officer and she as a teacher. Flora reportedly began an extramarital affair with her gym trainer, Samuel.
When Sumanth discovered the affair, the couple relocated to Warangal in 2019. However, Flora continued seeing Samuel and often invited him home in her husband’s absence.
To eliminate Sumanth, Flora allegedly paid Samuel ₹1 lakh, out of which ₹50,000 was given to Rajkumar, an AR constable in Cyberabad, to execute the murder. The fatal ambush was carried out on February 20 while Sumanth was returning home from his hospital shift in Kazipet.
The case has raised concerns over planned violent crimes and the involvement of law enforcement personnel in criminal activities. The three accused are now in police custody as the investigation continues.
