Surgical needle left in woman’s head in Uttar Pradesh Hapur

Hapur, UP: In a shocking incident of medical negligence a doctor left a needle in the head of a girl who had gone to get treatment for a head injury in a government hospital at Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that the doctor applied stitches and then left the needle in the head. Now after this matter came to light, a two-member committee has been formed by the Chief Medical Officer for investigation.

The girl has been injured in the head after a fight broke out. The injured girl was taken to the government hospital for treatment.  The girl’s family members have told that the doctor had sent her home after stitching and bandaging her head. However, the girl’s headache was not going away. After this the family took the girl to a private doctor. When the bandage on the girl’s head was opened, it was found that the needle had been left inside her head while stitching it. After this, the private doctor removed the needle from the head, bandaged it and sent the girl home.

The girl’s family members have alleged that the negligent doctor was drunk. The family members appealed and demanded action in this matter so that such an incident does not happen again to anyone in future. The family has lodged a complaint with the health department and concerned authorities regarding the incident. Taking cognizance of this matter, CMO has formed a team and sought investigation report.
