A serious privacy violation has raised concerns over patient safety and hospital security protocols
Patient Catches Accused in the Act, Raises Alarm
A disturbing incident has come to light at Sola Civil Hospital, where a staff member was allegedly caught secretly recording a woman patient inside the X-ray room. The patient noticed the man using his mobile phone to film her and immediately raised an alarm, prompting her relatives to intervene and confront the accused on the spot.
Phone Check Reveals More Alleged Recordings
Upon checking the accused’s mobile phone, relatives reportedly discovered multiple similar videos, indicating a pattern of misconduct. The revelations have intensified concerns over patient privacy violations within sensitive hospital areas.
No Police Complaint Filed, Matter ‘Settled’
Despite the seriousness of the incident, no formal complaint has been registered with the police. Officials from the local police station confirmed that neither the victim nor hospital authorities filed a case, and the matter was reportedly settled privately between the accused and the patient’s family.
Hospital Calls Incident ‘Shameful’, Orders Action
Dr. Dipika Singhal, medical superintendent of the hospital, termed the incident “shameful” and confirmed that the accused has been identified as a driver associated with the community medicine department of GMERS Medical College.
She stated that the college dean has been instructed to take strict disciplinary action. According to her, the accused is a long-serving employee with around 15 years of service and no prior complaints.
Authorities Alerted, But No Legal Action Taken
Hospital authorities informed both the police desk and the 181 Abhayam Helpline about the incident. However, since the victim’s family chose not to pursue legal action, no case has been registered so far.
Inspector K. N. Bhukan confirmed that in the absence of a formal complaint, no legal proceedings could be initiated.
Security Measures to Be Strengthened
In response to the incident, hospital administration has announced stricter security protocols, particularly in sensitive areas like radiology and X-ray departments. Measures will include tighter access control for staff and visitors to prevent misuse of unrestricted entry.
Disciplinary action against the accused driver has also been initiated, as authorities move to address the lapse and restore patient trust.
