New Medical Staff to Strengthen Urban Healthcare Services
Coimbatore: Seven doctors and 10 lab technicians have been appointed to urban primary health centres (UPHCs) in Coimbatore, strengthening healthcare services in the city.
Doctors Receive Appointment Orders from CM
A senior corporation official confirmed that the seven doctors were among the 2,642 medical officers who received appointment orders from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on February 26, following their selection by the Medical Services Recruitment Board.
The newly appointed doctors will be posted at UPHCs in Ramanathapuram, Ganapathy, Thudiyalur, Kalveerampalayam, KK Pudur, VVM Home, and Selvapuram. While five lab technicians have been assigned postings, the remaining five are awaiting placement.
More Appointments in Progress
In addition to these appointments, around 25 nurses have recently been posted in various healthcare centers across the city. Coimbatore currently has 32 UPHCs under the city corporation’s jurisdiction.
Further appointments are expected for health and wellness centres in the coming months. Of the proposed 63 centres in the district, 45 were inaugurated last year but remain without medical officers. Officials aim to complete staffing soon to improve healthcare accessibility.
