CoSAAP condemns “barbaric act,” demands strict legal action
Itanagar – The Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has strongly condemned the attack on Dr. Moji Jini’s residence, calling it a barbaric act and urging authorities to take strict legal action against the accused.
Attack on Dr. Jini’s Residence
Former All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) president Byabang Joram allegedly stormed into the private residence of Dr. Moji Jini, the Director of Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), at 2:30 am on Tuesday. According to CoSAAP, Joram forcefully entered the premises, vandalized property, and allegedly attempted physical assault on Dr. Jini.
Dr. Jini, a renowned pediatric super-specialist and a key figure in establishing Arunachal Pradesh’s first and only medical college, was also reportedly subjected to intimidation and ransom demands.
CoSAAP and Medical Community Demand Justice
CoSAAP expressed solidarity with Dr. Jini and his family, calling for the harshest legal action against Joram.
“CoSAAP stands with Dr. Jini and strongly urges law enforcement to book the accused under strict sections of the law,” the association said in a statement.
The TRIHMS Faculty Association (TFA) also staged a protest at the Emergency and Trauma wing of TRIHMS on February 5, condemning the attack and demanding better security for medical professionals.
Arrest and Investigation
The Capital Police arrested Byabang Joram on Tuesday morning. Naharlagun Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a land agreement dispute dating back to June 2023.
“The investigation is ongoing, and we will provide further updates as the case progresses,” SP Gambo stated.
Joram is currently in judicial custody, and authorities are looking into the legal aspects of the dispute.

This incident has reignited concerns about the safety of medical professionals in Arunachal Pradesh. Doctors and healthcare workers have urged the government to implement stricter security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The case is being closely monitored, and further legal actions are expected in the coming days.
