Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) has raised concerns over the incomplete security infrastructure at Hamidia Hospital, despite efforts to enhance safety measures for healthcare professionals.

Concerns Raised by JUDA

  • Dr. Kuldeep Gupta, President of JUDA, highlighted that the hospital administration’s promises regarding 400 CCTV cameras across the GMC campus have yet to be fulfilled.
  • Despite discussions around a high-tech gate being constructed for security, JUDA questions how the administration can focus on such initiatives when basic security measures are still lacking.
  • Dr. Gupta stated, “Safety and security of doctors are paramount, but when 400 CCTVs are yet to be installed, how can we trust that a high-tech gate will be set up? Nothing has been done so far for the safety and security of doctors on campus, which houses three hospitals—Hamidia, Sultania, and Kamla Nehru—along with GMC.”

Response from GMC Dean

  • Dr. Kavita N. Singh, GMC Dean, responded by assuring that the new gate will be equipped with CCTV cameras as part of the larger plan to enhance security.
  • She explained that the gate’s construction is part of an effort to manage the rush on campus effectively and emphasized that the safety and security of all medical staff remains a top priority.

This back-and-forth highlights ongoing concerns about the actual commitment of the administration to providing robust security for healthcare professionals in the face of increasing incidents across medical campuses.
