Balasore: A 22-year-old man was arrested by city police in Balasore district for allegedly stealing jewellery worth over ₹70 lakh from a Bengaluru doctor’s house, where he had worked as a domestic help, the police said on Wednesday.
According to the PTI report, the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday in his village in the Khaira area of the district.
The theft was discovered when a jewellery shop owner in Khaira alerted the police about a man attempting to sell gold and diamond ornaments. The shopkeeper became suspicious when the man fled after being questioned about the jewellery’s origins.
Upon further inquiry, the man fled, raising additional suspicion, the police reported. He was later tracked down with the help of CCTV footage, the officer added.
